The Position
The City of Maple Grove is seeking a Sound Technician! In this role, you will be tasked with maintaining the efficient and safe operation of the City of Maple Grove's Town Green Park sound, video, and lighting equipment for community-sponsored events. As our sound technician, you will have a fantastic impact on our community by helping to create special events for our residents. Responsibilities
- Set up and operate outdoor live sound reinforcement systems and video and lighting equipment.
- Utilize signal flow and proper gain structure with all necessary microphones, mixing consoles, amplifiers, processors, equalizers, loudspeakers, monitors, snakes, cables, stands, and auxiliary equipment.
- Document any repairs needed to help maintain audio and video equipment.
- Monitor sound, video, and lighting equipment-related activities within the park during hours of operation and, using good judgment, offer input to the Sound Technician Coordinator and the Town Green Site Supervisor.
- Have an understanding of and comply with all recreation programs, policies, and procedures regarding the operation of Town Green.
- Assist in the completion of reports as requested.
- Be familiar with emergency and accident procedures.
- Perform other related duties.
Skills and Abilities:
- Communicate effectively with the public, supervisors, and part-time staff to foster a collaborative environment.
- Exercise sound independent judgment and decision-making skills.
- Work autonomously without direct supervision while remaining accountable for tasks.
- Navigate the park extensively throughout each shift.
- Engage in public interactions with tact and courtesy.
- Lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds as needed.
Qualifications
Need to have:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Experience with setting up sound equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on your own.
Nice to have:
- The equivalent of two summers’ experience operating outdoor live sound reinforcement systems.
- Knowledge of wiring a stage and setting up a microphone on instruments, power up and down procedures.
- Experience setting up a console and processing rack and experience with route cabling.
- Experience with mixing a wide variety of different-sized bands.
- Experience setting up and operating outdoor live sound reinforcement, video, and lighting systems.
