The Position
The City of Maple Grove is seeking a passionate individual to serve as a Lil Sports Instructor for soccer and T-ball! Enjoy the beautiful Minnesota spring and summer weather as you create a fun, enjoyable, and safe environment for young children to participate in soccer and T-ball. As a Lil Sports Instructor, you will work to develop and conduct lesson plans for participants. Join our growing and diverse community and help make an impact today!Hours of work
Mid June –Early August, Mondays-Thursday, 4:00-7:00 pm.
- Participate in developing and implementing the lesson plans which emphasize fun and the basic skills of the sport.
- Participate in scheduled staff meetings, contribute ideas and suggestions for the program.
- Assure all supplies distributed are maintained well and returned at the end of the program.
- Instruct and supervise children using positive techniques and clear guidelines to maintain a relaxed, orderly atmosphere.
- Work with children in a group setting to learn specific skills.
- Ensure the class begins and ends at the designated time.
- Be knowledgeable about all accident and emergency procedures. Ensure that all situations are handled safely and that all necessary reports are completed promptly.
- Respond to parents’ questions and comments with positive interactions.
- Perform other related duties as requested by the supervisor.
Ability to:
- Work with others and build a positive team environment.
- Provide leadership and guide groups effectively.
- Demonstrate good judgment and practical problem-solving abilities.
- Clear communicator who can give easy-to-follow instructions.
- Understands the basics of parks & recreation and departmental goals.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Need to have:
- Must be 15 years of age or older.
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of public recreation.
- Experience working with young children and/or leading group activities.
- Experience in developing and implementing lesson plans.
- Previous coaching experience
