The Position
Attention college students and recent graduates! The City of Maple Grove's seasonal GIS Technicians collect and update data using GPS technology, and inputs data from plan sheets to utility databases. Work is performed under general supervision of the public works supervisors, City of Maple Grove's GIS Analyst and Asset Management Specialist. Does not exercise supervision.
Monday - Friday - 40 hours per week - May - September.

Multiple Openings
- Field collect highly accurate, high quality spatial information, including attributes of public structures and GIS data, using ESRI and Trimble GPS technology.
- Most functions of the job will require staff to be outdoors, utilizing GPS technology, and walking between assets.
- Conduct inspections of storm ponds and/or create tasks using our asset management system
- Will perform GIS related tasks as requested, desktop editing with ArcGIS Pro, data entry in various platforms, document scanning, and other related tasks.
- Executes GIS hardware and software operations and maintains data quality control.
- Inputs data from plan sheets to utility databases.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Ability too:
- Ability to work outside and be on your feet up to 40 hours a week.
- Ability to pass driving record check/ background check
- Work independently.
Need to have:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Have a valid driver’s license.
- Enrollment in a degree program or recently graduated from an accredited college or university with a discipline in geography, GIS, natural resources, or related field.
- Experience with ESRI ArcGIS products.
Nice to have:
- Experience with GPS equipment and iPad for data collection
- Interest in the water resources field but not required
Salary : $19 - $21
