JOB SUMMARY
The Main Street/Special Projects Coordinator position is responsible for assisting downtown revitalization and business development efforts in the City’s Main Street District using the
National Main Street Four Point Approach: Organization, Design, Promotions, and Economic
Restructuring as its fundamental organizational framework. The position requires multidimensional skills and experience. This role routinely uses office equipment such as computers for various applications, phones, photocopiers, filling cabinets and fax machines. This person is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the commercial revitalization strategy, coordinating the Main Street Program, working directly with and coordinating the Main Street
Board of Directors, coordinating select projects, special events, fundraising initiatives, volunteer management activities and any other responsibilities deemed appropriate. The Main
Street/Special Projects Coordinator will be responsible for establishing good rapport, communications and partnerships with the Board of Directors, the Tree Board, the Historic
Society and other organizations, committees, elected officials, governmental agencies and the media. This person will also be responsible for assisting with grant writing and management, as well as assisting with the acquisition, and development. The Main Street/Special Projects
Coordinator falls under the City Manager and reports to the City Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Develops administrative program standards for the proper and efficient operation of the
Main Street Program.
- Coordinates the activities of the Main Street Program and other special projects with City departments, public and private agencies.
- Assumes responsibility for long and short range studies regarding the City’s needs for downtown revitalization.
- Keeps abreast of current developments in the field by attending meetings and holding individual conferences with comparable officials in neighboring jurisdictions conducting such programs.
- Assists in Community Redevelopment Area endeavors and research projects.
- Prepares reports concerning program activities.

- Provides information to the public and media on matters and questions relating to the program’s functions.
- Supervises and coordinates promotional activities.
- Organization and attendance of special events.
- Assists with writing and managing grants.
- Assists with neighborhood revitalization programs.
- City representative for Jackson County Chamber of Commerce.
- Attend and/or assist in organization of ribbon cuttings for new businesses
- Attend and/or assist in organization of business after hours’ functions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in a related field.
Special Requirements:
- Must have possession of a valid Florida driver’s license
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices involving grant programs, including but not limited to how grant programs pertain to the development and revitalization of the economic and business community.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed inside an office setting with occasional visits to special project sites and variously locations within the city.
HOURS WORKED
Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm in the office unless duties require you to be away from assigned work station.

Pay Grade: 19
