Summary

We are seeking a Meter Reader to join our team in Marianna, FL. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately reading utility meters and ensuring that our residents receive reliable service. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency of our utility management and enhance community satisfaction.

Essential Job Functions

· Maintains and troubleshoots equipment for reading and meters including transmitter/receiver equipment, work truck and tools.

· Reads natural gas and water meters on an assigned route and records readings.

· Walk or drive vehicle along an established route.

· Enter data in hand-held devices or be able to operate a device to read meters remotely.

· Completes service orders generated by the water office which includes turning water off and on, investigating unusual consumptions and determining transmitter and/or meter deficiencies.

· Leave messages in cases where consumption appears to be abnormal and record possible reasons for fluctuations.

· Assists water and wastewater department staff with locating meters.

· Works with customers, educating them about water consumption and simple steps to troubleshoot household leaks.

· Obtains special readings as required.

· Responds quickly and professionally to requests from the office.

· Prepares and reviews meter reading reports for accuracy.

· Assigns and arranges new accounts in proper sequence.

· Inspects meters for unauthorized connections, defects, and damage such as broken seals.

· Reports to the water department in a timely manner any problems such as meter irregularities, damaged equipment, or impediments to meter access, including dogs.

· Checks to determine consistency of meter readings and reports unusual cases.

· Makes mathematical computations of water and natural gas consumption for meters read.

· Performs water service connects and disconnects related to non-payment of past due accounts.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Strong mechanical knowledge related to utility systems and equipment.
• Basic electrical understanding is essential for troubleshooting issues.
• Ability to work in the field under various weather conditions.
• Familiarity with power tools and equipment repair is a plus.
• Strong communication skills for effective interaction with residents and team members.

Pay: $15.00 - $17.98 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
