Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Police Dispatcher at the City of Maricopa, AZ. The Police Dispatcher will be responsible for dispatching emergency services, ensuring law enforcement communication, and maintaining public safety in the community. The City of Maricopa Emergency Communications Center is a 24/7-365 operation, including overnight, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications - Entry Level
- High School diploma or GED equivalency
- 1-3 years of experience in public contact or customer service
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
Qualifications - Lateral or with experience
- High School diploma or GED equivalency
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Police, Fire, or Emergency Services Dispatcher and have a valid Terminal Operator Certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Motorola (Spillman) FLEX CAD Experience
- Dispatching and/or call-taking at a Primary Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), 9-1-1 Center, Fire/EMS Department, or secondary PSAP.
- Experience with computer data entry and basic computer skills
- Bilingual (Spanish) speaking skills are desirable.
Other Qualifications
- Because of the confidential, sensitive nature of the information handled, successful completion of a background investigation and polygraph may be required. Candidates given a conditional offer will be required to pass pre-employment alcohol/drug test, and may be required to pass a psychological testing.
