Position Summary
Under the direction of the Court Administrator and Presiding Judge, plans, implements and manages the daily operations of the municipal court including responsibility for supervision, training, evaluation, and development of court staff. Supervises and oversees collections, accounting functions, court procedures, development of and updates to processes.
This is a supervisory position whose work performed requires the application of professional knowledge and expertise as well as established guidelines and alternatives to determine facts, analyze problems, and make decisions without immediate review; incumbents may respond to sensitive and complicated inquiries or problems related to departmental programs or policies.

- Supervises assigned staff, including assigning tasks, providing appropriate training, reviewing work processes and products, counseling employees, reviewing timesheets, completing performance evaluations, administering performance improvement plans and recommending disciplinary action; and participates in the interviewing and hiring process for new employees. Ensures work is completed in compliance with all applicable laws, procedures and policies. Conducts staff meetings and safety training.
- Ensures financial accountability for the municipal court; manages and oversees the collections and accounting functions.
- Supervises, monitors and reviews timely collection and disbursement of all fines and court fees as required by statutes.
- Develops procedures, trains and reviews the work of staff in the operation of the required computer program; keeps current on all changes from the Administrative Office of the Courts and updates staff.
- May serve as liaison with other city departments, local, county and state government officials, private organizations and general public concerning municipal court non-judicial operations.
- Resolves operational or interpersonal conflicts with the public or employees.
- Coordinates the scheduling of jurors and jury trials.
- Assists in the budget process; gathers and researches budget information; assists in monitoring and maintaining budget control information; orders supplies and equipment; receives invoices and processes payments.
- Assists court administrator and judges in the formulation and implementation of court rules, policies and court forms; recommends procedural changes required by changes in law or court policy.
- Participates in the development of long range planning and implementation of approved court goals.
- Manages and oversees interpreter services.
- Assumes the duties of Court Administrator as required.
- Performs special projects and related work as assigned.
