General Statement of Duties and Distinguishing Features of Class
The Program Coordinator position is responsible for overseeing the operations of City of Mason’s Adaptive Work Study program and developing innovative adaptive programming to meet the needs of participants with the City of Mason’s Parks and Recreation Department. This position will be under the direction of a Program Manager or designee.
Examples of Work (Illustrative Only)
- Coordinate and manage the work-study program, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervision of participants.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate adaptive programs tailored to the needs of individuals with diverse abilities.
- Create and maintain documentation, reports, and records to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Provide guidance and support to staff and participants involved in adaptive programming.
- Collaborating with team members, supervisors and community partners to create inclusive, impactful, and sustainable programs.
- Monitor program effectiveness, collect feedback and make necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
- Stay informed on best practices and trends in adaptive programming and work-study opportunities.
- Prepares and maintains administrative records and paperwork as requested.
- Lead or attend in-service training sessions and/or staff meetings as requested.
- Upholds the policies and procedures of the City of Mason and Parks & Recreation Department.
- Administer and record any necessary first aid/victim care within the level of emergency training.
- Demonstrates knowledge of all emergency procedures throughout the city facilities during work study.
- Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: The following is preferred.
- Good organization and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience in program development, coordination particularly in adaptive or inclusive settings.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
- Acquire and maintain current certification in American Red Cross Standard First Aid and CPR.
- Ability to lift and move objects.
