What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grounds Maintenance Operator I #2 position at CITY OF MAUMELLE?
Operator I is responsible for care of City street rights of way, parks and playgrounds, green spaces and areas around City Departments. This position operates a City vehicle and requires a valid Arkansas Driver's License.
Essential Job Duties
- Operating push/riding lawn-mowers
- Weed eating
- Weeding
- Blowing leaves
- Collecting paper and debris from roadsides, green spaces, parks etc.
- Trimming tree-limbs and shrubberies
- Planting grass and flowers, trees
- Performing general lawncare, such as weed-whacking, edging, etc.
- Repairing playground equipment
- Painting or repairing park benches, guardrails, fences, building maintenance and other equipment or structures.
- Assisting with street sign installation and maintenance, traffic control devices, repairing curbs, gutters, sidewalks, operating paint striper to mark street surfaces, sidewalk and parking lots.
- Working on street construction and maintenance shoveling asphalt, concrete, removing ice, snow, salting and sanding streets.
- Operating and perform minor maintenance on motor-driven vehicles and equipment (oil changes, preventative maintenance, sharpen blades, grease and check fluid.
- Heavy manual labor for extended periods of time under varying weather conditions.
- Maintaining good public relations with other members of the crew.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The education and experience listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities generally necessary to fulfill this requirement.
- GED or high school diploma
- 2 years related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Must possess a current, valid and unrestricted Class D Arkansas driver's license.
