GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The essential function of the position within the organization is to provide customer service support to the assigned City department. The position will assist in posting to all city revenue accounts to include cash collections. The position has no supervisory responsibilities.
PRIMARY DUTIES: _This list represents the essential tasks performed by the position. Employees may be assigned additional duties by management as required.

- Provide customer service to citizens of the City of McAlester.
- Collects utility billing payments and posts activity to customer accounts.
- Issue receipts or change due to customers.
- Receive proper documentation, complete appropriate forms needed and collect fees and deposits to set up new accounts.
- Process account transfers or issue service discontinuance orders by documenting in the Utility Billing Software.
- Prepares daily cash reconciliation report and balance cash collected to collections report.
- Prepares service orders and relay information to field crew.
- Address incoming requests from customer and ensure that issues are resolved both promptly and thoroughly in a professional manner.
- Thoroughly and efficiently gather customer information, access and fulfill customer needs, educate the customer where applicable.
- Provide quality service and support in a variety of areas including, but not limited to: billing and service orders.
- Maintain a balance between city policy and customer benefit in decision making. Address issues in the best interest of both customer and city.
- Check to ensure that appropriate changes were made to resolve customers' problems.
- Keep records of customer interactions or transactions, recording details of inquiries, complaints, or comments, as well as actions taken by documenting information into the Utility Billing Software.
- Receive customer bank draft documentation before setting up bank drafts.
- Answers phones, takes messages, return customer calls and relays message to appropriate personnel.
- Assist in various office functions.
- Post city revenue to proper revenue accounts and cash accounts.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: “Education Requirements” refers to job specific training and education required for entry into the position.
Requires High School diploma, GED and formal training, special courses or self-education that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education or specialized advanced training.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: “Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations” refers to professional, state, or federal licenses, certifications, or registrations required to enter the position.
Requires none.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: “Experience Requirements” refers to the amount of work experience that is required for entry into the position that would result in reasonable expectation that the person can perform the tasks required by the position.
Requires one year of cash handling experience.
