What are the responsibilities and job description for the Line Locator position at City of McAlester?
PRIMARY DUTIES: This list represents the essential tasks performed by the position. Employees may be assigned additional duties by management as required.
Collects and retains data to perform work.
Ability to research and review utility records and identify utilities from field observation.
Read and interpret utility plans / prints to identify the type and size of underground utilities.
Accurate and organized documentation of lines located, and reports.
Accurate marking of all lines, including fire hydrants, gas, sewer, water, etc.
Ability to use GPS to locate appropriate lines.
Provides mapping of utilities.
Updates maps in conjunction with Engineering
Knowledgeable of basic engineering principles and terminology.
Performs other related duties as assign
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: “Education Requirements” refers to job specific training and education required for entry into the position.
Requires education or training equivalent to an associate’s degree.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: “Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations” refers to professional, state, or federal licenses, certifications, or registrations required to enter the position.
Requires valid Driver’s License.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: “Experience Requirements” refers to the amount of work experience that is required for entry into the position that would result in reasonable expectation that the person can perform the tasks required by the position.
Requires three years of related experience. Must have overall knowledge of surveying principles and equipment. Also, need a considerable amount of mathematical ability
