What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aviation-Maintenance Technician position at City of McAllen, TX?
Under direction of the Airport Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician performs maintenance work such as being responsible for keeping the runways, taxiways, and surrounding grounds free of weeds and debris. This employee is responsible for maintaining an overall safe operations environment for all air carriers and the traveling public. Responsible for keeping lights and signs in working condition and for keeping the air traffic control tower informed of the location and mowers when they are on the runway or other airfield surfaces. Job requires some report writing and record keeping and critical decisions affecting the operation of the airport are made which requires interpretation and good judgment. This employee has contact with the public requiring tack and diplomacy and is on-call waiting to become engaged to work after hours as assigned.
