What are the responsibilities and job description for the Concessions Cashier position at City of McHenry?
Under the direct supervision of the Athletics and Aquatics Supervisor, the Concession Cashier is responsible for providing support, services and goods to customers at concession facilities, including those at Merkel Aquatic Center and Petersen Park.
Staff at all times is representative of the philosophy, mission, and goal of McHenry Parks & Recreation Department and its programs and facilities. Staff must strive to work cooperatively with the Recreation Supervisor and fellow employees to achieve the goals and objectives of McHenry Parks & Recreation Department.
Job Duties
ADMINISTRATIVE
- Be available for staff meetings and trainings as scheduled
- Report any incidents to the supervisor and fill out any necessary paperwork
- Notify supervisor of any broken or malfunctioning equipment immediately
- Overall responsibility for maintaining all records
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess strong oral and interpersonal communication skills
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly and correctly
- Must be able to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- Must be able to speak clearly so others can understand you
- Must be able to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs
- Must possess ability to be flexible and adjust to changing work environment
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds, requires frequent heavy lifting and moving of equipment and supplies
- Must have general knowledge and physical ability to respond in emergency situations and be trained and certified in First Aid, CPR and AED
ACCURACY
- Requires accurate record keeping for of money, goods and supplies
SAFETY
- Review and understand all emergency drills and be prepared to implement them
- Requires considerable attention and alertness to safety hazards
PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES
- Greet customers entering and using establishments
- Tabulate bills using cash registers or calculators; receive payment by cash, check or vouchers; issue receipts, refunds or change due to customers
- Compute and record totals of transactions; sort and count currency and coins
- Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure amounts are correct and that there is adequate change
- Stock shelves during and at end of shift
- Maintain clean and orderly checkout and eating areas
- Answer customers' questions, and provide information on procedures or policies; resolve customer complaints
- Fill in at various positions when there are personnel shortages, vacations, or special projects (including opening/closing as needed)
- Perform other related duties as assigned and perform all duties with respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, fairness and caring
- Maintains all necessary records
- Adheres to all policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Food Handler certification current or obtained as soon as possible
- Basic First Aid, CPR and AED certification current or obtained as soon as possible
- Desire to work with customers on a daily basis
- Must be an example of good moral behavior
- Willingness to project McHenry Parks & Recreation image by personal adherence to all policies
- Must be able to positively interact with people on a daily basis
- Must be able to take constructive criticism
- Must be able to get to work on a daily basis and on time
- Experience in money handling and record keeping
- Experience in sale of goods
