This position is responsible for the construction, repair, or general maintenance of all grounds, buildings and related park and downtown areas as well as preventive maintenance programs for equipment and facilities. Applicants must possess a strong orientation toward customer service, and a stewardship philosophy toward ecosystem management. This position works under the supervision of the Parks and Downtown Maintenance Superintendent and Crew Leader.

Wage dependent on possession of applicators license:
- No license: $51,321.92 (Grade A)
- Possession of license upon hire: $57,350.77 (Grade B)
Job Duties
- Operates and maintains equipment such as tractors, mowers, trencher, vehicles and other motorized equipment.
- Utilizes and maintains a variety of hand and power tools.
- Apply herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides safely.
- Performs tree trimming and snow plowing as directed
- Possess a knowledge base in electrical work or other mechanical arenas including plumbing and overall general carpentry and construction.
- Maintain usage records of fertilizer and chemicals.
- Performs wide variety of preventative and routine maintenance to buildings, park and playground equipment, swimming pool, etc...
- Perform a wide variety of repairs and maintenance to equipment and facilities within the Parks and Recreation program.
- Prepare park and downtown facilities for special events and recreation programs per guidelines outlined by the City or guests/user of facility.
- Ensure all parks, buildings, downtown areas and various locations are clean, maintained and free of debris.
- Follow up work assignments to assure proper accomplishment of each job.
- Work with community groups and agencies on park related projects and programs
- Recommend maintenance items to be scheduled.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to operate park and downtown maintenance equipment in a safe manner
- Possession of a valid CDL driver's license with clean driving record, or ability to obtain one within probationary period.
- Possession of a valid applicators license or ability to become certified within probationary period.
- Knowledge of park department's properties and facilities.
- Ability to communicate with the general public in a friendly and courteous manner.
- The ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.
- Ability to pass drug screen and background check.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license
- Education credentials beyond High School, particularly in turf management or landscape maintenance, are desirable.
