What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal - Maintenance Worker (Public Works) position at City of McHenry?
The City of McHenry is seeking seasonal summer help for the Public Works Department: Street, Utility, Wastewater, and Water Divisions. This position will preform a variety of maintenance work at Public Works facilities and at job sites throughout the City. Work will mainly be preformed outdoors.
Work hours are Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30pm (40 hours per week). There may be occasional weekend work to prepare for City events. The term of employment is for 13 – 14 weeks, from approximately mid-May to mid-August. Start/Stop dates are flexible depending on school schedule. Qualifications
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
- Have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
- Possess the ability to communicate in a respectful and courteous manner with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
- Provide excellent customer service to the residents of McHenry.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand and talk or hear; use hands and finger to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and kneel, crouch, crawl, and bend.
- The employee must daily lift and/or move up to and more than 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
