SUMMARY OF POSITION
This position will assist in coordinating, planning, and implementing aquatics programs, special events, facility reservations, program evaluation, and activity marketing. This position will also be required to help maintain three Aquatics facilities and oversee the Aquatic Staff. Additionally, the position will perform administration duties, including but not limited to; record keeping, reporting, purchasing, and program budgets.

Essential Functions/Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides positive and enthusiastic customer service to all customers, members, and guests.
- Upholds excellent customer service standards, including proper phone etiquette, greeting customers, saying goodbye and inviting them back.
- Promotes the facilities, programs and services to members and guests.
- Assists with staff issues, including but not limited to: selection and hiring, training, coaching, and mentoring of staff.
- Helps the supervisor with reports and record keeping, such as employee payroll.
- Enforces all safety rules; provides in-service safety training for all employees; and maintains necessary correspondence with the American Red Cross.
- Assists in the planning, organizing, and implementation of aquatics programs and special events. Oversees a variety of aquatics programs, ordering supplies, and collecting program registration.
- Works independently and is responsible for overseeing activities at varied locations. Sets up and takes down at facilities and areas for special events, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Assists in recruiting, training, supervising, and directing instructors.
- Collects activity and registration records and makes requests well in advance for budgetary recommendations, prepares reports describing and evaluating programs at completion of activity and identifies methods and areas to improve.
- Adheres to all written mandatory standards of operation, policies, procedures, manuals, memos, and oral instructions, etc.
- Assists the supervisor in coaching, mentoring, and training aquatic staff in a manner that reinforces the facilities’ mission, vision, values and philosophies.
- Serves as Manager-on-Duty as requested, both during the week and weekends, and performing all responsibilities as necessary in this capacity.
- Enforces all safety rules; provides in-service training for all employees, and maintains all necessary correspondence with the American Red Cross.
- Assists with managing the operation and maintenance of the pools.
- Adheres to all the various written mandatory standards of operation, policies, procedures, manuals, memos, oral instructions, etc.
- Arrives to work every day, on time as scheduled. Works various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
- Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in City and department attendance policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with communications and marketing department.
- Conducts performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback on staff.
If assigned to Customer Service
- Ensures the smooth operation of the front desk area, providing courteous and efficient services.
- Assists in planning, organizing and implementation of customer service desk operating practices and facility reservation processes.
- Oversees customer service standards, in-service and certification record keeping and processes, inventory lists, and facility rentals.
- Assists supervisor in ensuring all appropriate supplies, equipment and materials are on hand and inventory is conducted accurately and timely.
- Prepares the daily cash receipts and drops off deposits; reviews the preparation of customer service representative’s daily cash receipt and deposits.
- Audits household registration accounts for accurate charges and credits, prepares reports including revenues and expenses, and makes requests well in advance for budgetary recommendations.
- Ensures appropriate supplies, equipment and materials are on hand and advises supervisor in advance of operational equipment and supply needs.
- Perform administrative duties, including but not limited to; frequent audits, data collection, processing administrative reports, customer service scheduling, certification tracking, order entries/inventories, onboarding and hiring customer service representative staff.
If assigned to Programming
- Ensures appropriate supplies, equipment and materials are on hand and advises supervisor in advance of program equipment and supply needs.
- Plans, organizes, and executes both existing and new Aquatic related special events.
- Oversees McKinney Swim school planning, organizing, implementation, and swim instructor certification courses.
- Issues, maintains, and updates contracts pertaining to programming vendors and water exercise instructors. Oversees McKinney Swim School programming standards, Swim Instructor and CPR certification record keeping and processes, and programming inventory lists.
- Input program materials in designated recreation software.
- Swim instructor and Swim Instructor Aide scheduling, onboarding, and hiring.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

Required Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any work related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the below Minimum Qualifications may be an acceptable substitute.
High School diploma or GED supplemented by two (2) years previous experience and/or training that includes life guarding/water safety instruction, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Certifications in American Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid, AED, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and McKinney Swim School Instructor required or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Experience and ability to operate chemical controllers.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Trainer.
- Certified Pool Operator.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Must pass a drug screen and background check.
- Must have Class C Texas Driver’s License.
Physical Demands/Supplemental
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
May be subject to repetitive motion such as typing and data entry. May be subject to extended periods of standing, sitting, walking over rough terrain, climbing ladders, bending, reaching, kneeling and lifting such as when assisting in staff coverage, setting up and tearing down of special events or servicing swimming pool pumps, filters and electrical boxes. May be exposed to moving equipment, high voltage and hazardous chemicals in the maintenance and care of swimming pool pumps, filters, vacuums, and electrical boxes. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in office, swimming pool, fitness center and in outdoor environments. Tasks may risk exposure to extreme heat/cold or extreme weather conditions. Also routine exposure to chemicals such Calcium Hypochlorite, Hydrochloric Acid and other pool related chemicals.
