About the Role
We currently have an exciting, rare opportunity for a Collections Team Leader to join our Libraries team on a short-term 6-month basis!
Are you passionate about delivering high-quality library and information services to the community? In this role, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our world-class library services and drive key initiatives outlined in the City of Melbourne Libraries Future Libraries Framework, and Council plan. Your focus will be on continuous improvement, ensuring our library collections remain relevant, accessible, inclusive and tailored to the needs of our diverse community.
As a member of the Libraries’ leadership team, you will provide strategic guidance in collection management, lead innovation in library services, and support the operational management of your designated branch. Additionally, you will collaborate with and assist the Library Branch Team Leader in overseeing branch operations and step into their role when required. This is an exciting opportunity for a leader who is committed to fostering community engagement, driving service excellence, and making a meaningful impact through library services.

What you will bring to City of Melbourne
- Tertiary qualification in appropriate discipline such as Librarianship, Management and/or 5 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated strategic knowledge of library collection management.
- Proven ability to plan and manage budgets.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain internal and external relationships, partnerships and networks.
- An excellent knowledge of publishing trends and content.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
- Ability to effectively deal with challenging situations to deliver optimal outcomes.
- Ability to display empathy and understanding with all sections of the community, including people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds and people with disabilities.
