Service Desk Technician
Salary: Min $59,116 Mid $73,894 Max $88,673

General Purpose:
Responsible for the daily maintenance and enhancement of the City’s computer equipment and peripherals. Installs hardware, software, peripherals and provides technical assistance and computer support to other departments either in person or using a remote connection. Interface with end users, provide computer and network-related technical support for all city personnel while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction for the department. Assists in staff training for various software applications or general technical knowledge.

- Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software.
- Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software or peripheral equipment.
- Field incoming requests to the Service Desk via telephone, email or ticketing system to ensure courteous, timely and effective resolution of end users issues.
- Assist in the Installation, configure, management, and maintenance of the data, voice, wireless, and video network infrastructures.
- Documentation of various network and systems infrastructures.
- Help to perform routine maintenance on routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless devices.
- Assist in administrating Entra/Active Directory policies and setting up new users and devices.
- Operate network monitoring software to prevent, diagnose and resolve issues.
- Diagnose and remedy network endpoint connectivity and performance problems.
- Build strong relationships with vendors who perform various roles for the City which could include software maintenance, cyber security monitoring and protection, warranty maintenance, etc.
- Assist with various IT projects which could be software conversion, new building IT facility network cabling, etc.
- Maintain professional certifications, as necessary to perform job duties.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Microsoft Windows 11/10, Windows Server (2016-2022), Office 365, and Microsoft Active Directory
- User account setup in Microsoft Active Directory
- Printer setup and install
- Apple iOS mobile devices
- Microsoft Applications (Office 365)
- Workstation setup, installs, and troubleshooting
- Basic DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, and port knowledge
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
- 4 or more years related experience
- CJIS Certificate or must be able to achieve within 6 months of employment
- Possess an Industry Recognized Certification (CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft)
- Valid Class C Texas Driver's license
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education/ Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Management Information Systems, or related field of study
- 2 or more years supporting local government
- COMPTIA A , Network (or higher) Certifications
- An industry recognized security certification is a plus
