ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the general supervision of the Supervisor of Materials and Publication within the Police Services Division. Performs the daily operation of the print shop's digital printing equipment and software programs to effectively create materials for customers. Operates equipment such as the Ricoh MP6500, MP5560, and MP1100. Calibrates the digital press and copiers for optimal color consistencies. Converts digital files into position for running, as assigned by the Printing Supervisor. Evaluates output and makes color adjustments as needed to obtain a desired level of image quality for optimal color. Troubleshoots problems that occur during submission or the printing process. Conducts and performs regular and special minor machine maintenance to achieve maximum machine performance based on equipment specification and to ensure the proper functioning of equipment. Ensures proper paper handling, conditioning loading, cutting of paper. Maintains the digital printing equipment and keeps inventory readily stocked. Reviews all proofs and final products produced on digital equipment before releasing to customers. Performs various bindery functions like folding, stuffing and laminating to finish job. Interacts with vendors, management, and staff on a variety of designs and product concerns.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Requires the ability to operate general office equipment such as a computer, telephone, and specialized printing equipment. Requires the ability to perform minor maintenance on digital equipment. Requires the ability to use the folding machine, cutter drill, plate maker, numbering machine, and copiers. Requires extending periods of bending, lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs., and moving large pallets of paper inside the printing department.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a printing room environment and involves contact with staff and other City personnel. Requires exposure to loud machinery, dust, fumes and potentially hazardous chemicals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate or equivalent; and four (4) years of experience in operating a high speed color copier or digital press through computer software, including experience converting computer files from RGB to CMYK, and programming complex functional features of the devices; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform essential job functions. Associate's degree in a related field is preferred. All candidates must successfully pass a criminal justice employment background check to work within the Police services Division.
