The Mendota Heights Police Department is seeking applications for its Cadet Program. This program employs individuals with college degrees looking to pursue a career in policing but have not completed the required education and training components to be a police officer in Minnesota. Prior law enforcement training or experience is not required.The applicants accepted into the program will attend Hennepin Technical College’s accredited training program in Brooklyn Park. This program equips cadets with the knowledge and skills needed to be a licensed peace officer in the State of Minnesota. Upon successful completion, the cadet will transition into a police officer position within the Mendota Heights Police Department.The cadet training program is approximately 22 weeks in length. The candidate will be eligible for full-time benefits. Additionally, tuition, books, uniforms, and equipment required to attend the training program will be paid for by the Mendota Heights Police Department. Once the candidate transitions into the police officer position, they will be required to serve with the Mendota Heights Police Department for a minimum of 2 years after the completion of their Cadet Program or else they will be responsible for repaying the cost of the program per the City's tuition reimbursement policy.
