The City of Mesa’s Department of Innovation and Technology is hiring an IT Application Support Engineer II that will support our collaboration efforts. The IT Application Support Engineer II will provide day-to-day application support as part of a team responsible for supporting a variety of business-critical enterprise level applications and may also work on report design and development. This position performs complex diagnostics and troubleshooting in support of designated applications, participates in the installation and configuration of applications, and assists with application and server patching and upgrades.
The IT Application Support Engineer II may also participate in the implementation of changes to collaboration systems, from request for change or project initiation through to deployment and review, and ongoing support. The position provides input into technical designs for a variety of projects; takes responsibility for completing tasks, focusing on requirements and planning to meet client needs. The IT Engineer II will identify, advise, and recommend technical solutions based on experience and industry knowledge. Employees in this class are required to participate in team oncall support, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This class is FLSA exempt-computer professional. (Part-time employees in this class are FLSA nonexempt.)
The ideal candidate will have familiarity and experience with application support including Microsoft 365 applications, SharePoint site collection administration and customization, PowerShell, XML, SQL stored procedures and SQL report development; have the ability to understand business processes and assist customers with application implementations, integrations and support; be proficient with written and verbal communications, customer service, teamwork, project and technical leadership, report writing, and developing and maintaining technical documentation; be proficient in reading, writing, analyzing, and manipulating data; experience supporting Microsoft Teams, PowerApps, PowerBI, and Exchange is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications Required. Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field, such as Engineering or Geography (by assignment). Considerable (3 - 5 years) computer systems experience in at least one of the following technical support areas: Applications, Database, Desktop, GIS, Network, Security, Server, or Web Support.
Special Requirements.
