What are the responsibilities and job description for the Street Lighting Technician-1 position at City of Miami Beach?
Semi-skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of street lighting equipment and whiteway facilities.
- Installs and splices series high voltage or multiple circuit cable
- Drives and operates automotive equipment (e.g. auger truck, bucket truck)
- Prepares and sets foundations for light poles
- Assists in concrete finishing work
- Troubleshoots circuit and installs new light fixtures
- Performs related work as required
- Three (3) months' experience in the installation and maintenance of street lighting equipment, including wire splicing, conduit installation and general maintenance
- Class "B" Commercial Driver's License valid for air brake
Physical Requirements
- Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact
- Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, sitting, standing, pushing, and pulling
- Ability to lift heavy objects and use a jackhammer to break up a sidewalk
