This is a part-time position that plans, organizes, and instructs children or adults in various Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) topics.
Essential Functions
An incumbent works under the direction of the STEAM Education Coordinator to assist in planning and implementing educational courses and activities relevant to STEAM topics including, but not limited to: artificial intelligence, aeronautics, chemistry, drones, gaming, coding, animation, sports science, forensics, anime & manga storyboarding, and electrical engineering. The incumbent will be responsible for serving as instructor/supervisor of activities; may assist in preparing class schedules and lesson plans, as required; collecting and keeping record of all activity fees and charges; keeping activity and attendance reports; ordering supplies and maintaining an inventory of equipment used in activities; ensuring that all equipment is in working condition and taking steps to prevent theft or damage; May assist in various teaching aspects of the therapeutic recreation program may assist with the supervision of participants with disabilities, as needed; may be required to perform custodial tasks (i.e., picking up litter on the playground or around recreation facility, garbage disposal, etc.); cleaning and setting up room for activities; may be assigned tasks at any of the City’s parks and/or public facilities; drives to different parks for assignments; May be required to operate a city motor vehicle not requiring a commercial driver's license. performing other related work, as required.
An employee in this classification will report to and work under the direct supervision of the designee in charge of the recreation facility, program, camp, or playground.
Minimum Requirements
Must be at least 16 years of age and have completed at least one (1) semester of college credits towards a degree or certification in Aeronautics, Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science, Robotics, Electronics, Engineering, Marine Biology, Molecular biology, or STEM Education.
A Valid Driver's License from any state (Equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized upon application, however prior to appointment a State of Florida Driver's License (Class E or higher) must be presented to the Department of Human Resources.
SPECIAL NOTE:
Candidates will be subject to a Level II background screening.
Employees will be required to work a minimum of fifteen (15) hours per week.

Translations of diploma/degrees are not accepted. Audit/Academic reports are not accepted as substitutions for college transcripts.
