Scope of Work
We are looking for a Parks and Recreation intern to perform various tasks and support to our Parks and Recreation team in their daily activities. If you are interested in kick-starting your career in Parks and Recreation and getting a closer, hands-on look at how our city approaches Parks, Recreation, Aquatics, and the Sports Complex.
Essential Job Duties
The main goal of this internship is to assist the division in creating/updating recreation programs, aquatic programs, as well as helping to run the Scharbauer Sports Complex. Along with this project, there will be many other opportunities to gain insight into the daily functions of a Parks and Recreation Division. You will have the opportunity to:
Ability to sit, stand, and move about an office department. Ability to be outside in the environment for hours at a time. Some lifting of boxes and supplies may be needed.

- Learn the reservation software
- Participate and assists with organizing community wide events
- Provide support for the Aquatic Coordinator
- Work side by side with the Parks Superintendent and the Scharbauer Sports Complex Superintendent.
- Gain a better understanding of recreation programs the City of Midland offers
- Answer phones and greet employees with a friendly demeanor
- Other projects and tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Office products
- Integrity, discretion and ability to maintain confidential information
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Degree path toward a Parks and Recreation field preferred but not required.
