Scope of Work
The Business Intelligence Developer II is responsible for the design, development, and support of advanced business intelligence (BI) solutions that empower the organization's decision-making processes. This role involves developing sophisticated reporting tools, managing complex ETL processes, and optimizing data models to extract actionable insights from various data sources. The Developer II also oversees the creation, optimization, and maintenance of the city's website and Intranet, ensuring they are aligned with communication goals, branding, and user needs.The items below are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by an individual assigned to this position. Essential Job Duties
- ETL Development and Advanced Data Modeling : Design, develop, and maintain complex ETL processes, ensuring data accuracy and integration from multiple sources. Optimize data models for performance, scalability, and reporting efficiency.
- Reporting and Dashboard Creation : Develop advanced reports and dashboards using BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, and QlikView, delivering data in actionable formats for decision-makers.
- Data Architecture and Business Solutions Development : Architect BI solutions that ensure data integrity, security, and optimal performance. Develop and implement data-driven applications that meet business and customer needs.
- Website and Intranet Content Management : Manage, update, and optimize content on the city's website and Intranet, ensuring it is user-friendly, accurate, and aligned with the city's branding and communication strategies. Perform periodic content audits and ensure the web content is accessible and up to date.
- Collaboration and Communication : Work closely with various city departments to gather, edit, and publish information for the website, Intranet, and other communication platforms. Ensure information is relevant, clear, and accessible.
- Customer and Stakeholder Collaboration : Analyze business requirements by conducting interviews and workshops with internal stakeholders. Translate requirements into actionable data solutions, ensuring business needs are met effectively.
- Security and Compliance : Incorporate advanced security protocols in all BI and web solutions, managing access control and encryption to safeguard sensitive data and ensure compliance with privacy laws.
- Research and Development : Stay up to date with new trends and technologies in BI and web development. Conduct research on new BI tools, methodologies, and standards to ensure the city's systems are up to date and scalable.
- Mentorship and Leadership : Mentor junior BI developers, helping them grow their skills in BI tools, coding, and best practices. Lead teams on complex BI and web development projects.
- Website Performance and Analytics : Monitor web analytics and user behavior to optimize website and Intranet functionality, ensuring a seamless user experience. Use data to make informed decisions on content and technical improvements.
- Optimization and Performance Tuning : Continuously monitor and enhance the performance of BI applications and the city's website. Implement performance tuning for both BI systems and web solutions to ensure high availability and low latency.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Minimum Education, Experience, and Certification :
A Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related degree plus two year of experience in a related field is required. Six years' experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree requirement.
