What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pool Attendant - Seasonal position at City of Midland?
Responsible for the collection of pool fees from patrons, the cleanliness of work area, tagging lost and found articles, preparation of simple cashier reports, and assist supervisor in emergency procedures.
- Collects admission fees and gives appropriate change utilizing a cash register.
- Prepares admission reports at the end of the working day.
- Records and tags all lost and found articles.
- Keeps work area in a clean professional appearance.
- Wears uniform that is issued on a daily basis.
- Recommends to supervisor the removal of patrons due to misconduct.
- Assists supervisor in emergency situations by contacting appropriate authorities.
- Stamina to sit in an alert manner and observe the activities of all patrons in the front entrance.
- Ability to operate adding machine.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as brooms, mops brushes, etc.
- Assists in cleaning facilities as needed such as bathrooms, front entrance, desks, windows, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Ability to sit, stand and transport self to and from pool. Employee will work in various temperature conditions. Will be exposed to chemicals such that are found around swimming pools as well as cleaning agents that are used to maintain the cleanliness of aquatic facilities and community centers. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, other city departments, city and statewide organizations and the general public.
Completion of ninth grade and at least 15 years of age. Must be able to posses valid CPR and First Aid Certificates prior to Memorial Day weekend.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of tenth grade and at least 16 years of age. Posses valid Lifeguard Training, CPR and First Aid Certificates. Posses a valid class "C" driver's license. Must have knowledge of customer service standards and procedures. Ability to act calmly and effectively in emergency situations, to prepare routine administrative paperwork, enforce pool rules and regulations, to perform emergency operation and procedures and inform proper authorities, to effectively and efficiently communicate with public, to work long hours, to sit in an alert manner and observe the activities of facility, to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
WAGES & HOURS:
Salary: $7.60-8.60; Memorial Day through Labor Day as needed; Days of and hours may vary; Cashiers typically log 15-40 hours per week.
