Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to oversee a variety of pre-construction and construction tasks for TSPLOST projects involving maintenance, repair, reconstruction, and construction of city right of ways including local streets and infrastructure. This position will perform technical tasks by supervising and overseeing city projects. This supervisor / inspector will assist contractors in understanding and meeting city procedures and job specifications, preparing inspection reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. This position is funded through TSPLOST and non-guaranteed to be funded beyond TSPLOST II expenditures ending FY26.
Essential Duties and Responsibilites
- Reviews construction plans; attends pre-construction meetings; assists in developing construction specifications.
- Observe work during progress and upon completion; recommend progress payments.
- Confer with developers, contractors, superintendents, inspectors, and owners; ensure that safety procedures are followed.
- Advise contractors of changes in plans and variances; work out conflicts.
- Coordinate work and interact with other city departments and outside agencies.
- Prepare detailed documentation of construction progress and inspection; prepare various reports on daily operations and activities.
- Maintains records including logbooks, project folders, and As-Built drawings.
- Organizes and files all project documents, pictures, drone images, etc.
- Performs stormwater infrastructure inspections; collect water samples for analysis as necessary.
- Inspect traffic signal construction and installation.
- Assists with erosion control, storm water quality and drainage issues and complaints.
- Reviews sub-base roll for new streets, inspects stone base, curbs, and asphalt placement.
- Respond to citizen inquiries / complaints regarding public works projects.
- Establish effective working relationships with developers, contractors, property owners and others to effect satisfactory compliance with specifications and standards.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Starting Salary is negotiable between the minimum and midpoint, DOQ : $71,671 to $89,589
