The City of Milwaukie is seeking a proactive Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our facilities team.
The facilities team plays a critical role in maintaining and upgrading city buildings, reducing energy use, and completing larger CIP projects. This hands-on role responds to requests, performs maintenance tasks, and works with contractors to meet city goals and needs. This is an exciting job for anyone who enjoys hands-on problem-solving and seeing the impact of their work through involvement in a small, close-knit community and workplace.
Applicants need not have decades in the field; we anticipate some learning on the job. In this role, you will gain experience troubleshooting HVAC systems and alarm equipment and scoping projects with contractors. No two days are the same! - Communicate in real-time with coworkers for urgent items and priorities
- Use software to access service requests, update status
- Drive each request to completion
- Independently manage time and demonstrate accountability
- Communicate the previous week's deliverables, concerns, and updates at weekly meetings
- Communicate plans and priorities for the upcoming week
Job Specifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- Two (2) years of prior work experience in related field such as building maintenance or construction.
Licensing/Special Requirements:
- Must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid Oregon or Washington State Driver’ License and maintain a valid license with proper endorsements.
- Must be able to successfully pass the background checks and screening requirements of the City and maintain CJIS clearance.
- Must possess at time of hire or obtain within two (2) years from time of hire a Building Operators, level I certification. Must enroll in the class within one (1) year from date of hire.

Hybrid Work Options: This position requires in-person customer service work. In accordance with the city's telework policy , this position is not eligible for regular remote work options.
Compensation: The salary range for this overtime-eligible union-represented position is $4,829 - 6,163 per month. The starting pay assignment, based on an analysis of the successful candidate's related experience and education as documented on the employment application in accordance with the city's pay equity policy and the Oregon Equal Pay Act, would be no higher than $5,871 per month.
