Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections of properties to ensure compliance with building codes, zoning laws, and public health regulations.
- Investigate complaints related to code violations and take appropriate enforcement actions.
- Prepare detailed reports documenting findings from inspections and investigations.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, violations, and enforcement actions taken.
- Collaborate with other departments and agencies to address complex compliance issues.
- Provide guidance and education to property owners regarding code requirements and best practices.
- Stay informed about changes in regulations, including FDA regulations and OSHA standards.
- Assist in the development of policies and procedures related to compliance management.
- Has extensive working knowledge of all City ordinances, Uniform Codes, and state laws related to property development and maintenance and be able to explain the ordinances and other laws to the general public, contractors, business owners, and other agencies in a courteous and tactful manner.

Responds to citizen complaints of nuisances such as inoperable cars, trash in yards, excessive noises, stray, uncontrolled animals.
- * Evaluates permit applications, including site inspection, for construction and demolition to determine whether the requirements of all applicable codes, ordinances, and laws are met; advises City Council as to whether permit should be granted or denied.
- * Maintains records of all applications, evaluations, recommendations, and actions.
- * Maintains files and records related to citations and violations.
- * Investigates code violations and determines appropriate action; locates property ownership; issues warnings, letters and citations as appropriate; conducts follow-up investigation and action as appropriate.
- * Develops and maintains files regarding complaints and violations, including evidence such as photographs, records of communications, records of actions, and other documentation. Appears in Court or otherwise provides supporting testimony and evidence as appropriate.
- * Composes and issues courtesy notices, notices of violations, citations, correction notices, and stop work orders to ensure compliance.
- * Operates and maintains animal shelter, including cleaning pens and feeding animals; orders supplies and maintenance items.
- * Captures stray animals to be impounded or returned to owner, transports animals to shelter, locates owner(s), if applicable. Arranges for adoption or other disposition of animals as appropriate.
- * Collects fees and fines for violations, services, licenses, redemption, and adoption; issues receipts for all fees collected; and delivers all funds to City Treasurer.
- * Evaluates applicable ordinances and suggests changes and corrections to the Minco City Council.
- * Performs other duties as assigned.
