Duties/Responsibilities
The Swim Coordinator manages the daily operations of the swim lesson program. Under the direction of the City of Minnetonka Aquatics Manager, this position is required to work mornings, afternoon, evenings, and weekends. The Swim Coordinator will need to manage multiple activities simultaneously and interpret operating policies and administrative duties in a capacity that requires independent judgment. Coordinators must be effective at handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary. The ideal Swim Coordinator should possess strong leadership qualities with supervision and mentoring staff.
- Knows, understands, and consistently applies and enforces safety and pool rules, policies and guidelines.
- Requires attentiveness, outstanding customer service skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to be proactive and exceed participants’ expectations.
- Communicates with and maintains effective relationships with the members, participants, and other staff.
- Communicates effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Provides excellent customer service and maintains a positive public image by immediately addressing questions and concerns from staff, patrons, participants, and parents.
- Provide guidance and constructive feedback for staff and provide support as needed for all participants and staff to create an inclusive environment.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Two years of swim lesson instruction, coaching, or program management experience.
- A minimum of 15 hours of weekly availability. Must be available to work mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Attend required staff meetings and training
- Mandatory training will be scheduled in early June before the start of the program session.
- Ability to remain calm in emergencies, communicating quickly and effectively provide emergency response.
- Ability to swim and has knowledge of all four competitive swim strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly).
- Strong leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to be held accountable, following through on commitments, producing timely work to required standards, and pitching in to complete tasks.
Desired Qualifications:
- College degree preferred, or in process.
