What are the responsibilities and job description for the Park Adventures Program Coordinator position at City of Minnetonka?
Work together alongside an additional Coordinator to oversee multiple local park locations for this program. This position oversees all aspects of supervision, planning, preparation, and leading of the entire Park Adventures program. Acts as indirect supervisor to all program staff (12-15).
This position must be able to start mid-May for program prep.
Programs take place at a variety of locations throughout the Hopkins and Minnetonka area. Program dates are June 16-Aug 7. No program June 30th – July 4th. Aug 9th is the end of program carnival that this position will be required to assist with. The schedule is Monday-Friday, 9 a.m-4 p.m. (Fridays are half days for prep).

- High school degree or equivalent GED completed.
- Must be available entire season with very limited time off requests.
- College age or older (18 ) with coursework in education, recreation or related field.
- One year experience with planning and leading youth sports, crafts, outdoor and recreational activities.
- Good common sense and problem solving skills, safety conscious, reliable, assertive, and a self-starter all with limited supervision.
- One year experience in a supervisory and/or direct leadership role.
- Organizational skills and ability to follow detailed instructions asked.
- Ability to work independently and have excellent problem solving skills.
- Must have a valid Driver's License.
Desired Job Qualifications:
- Completed degree in education, recreation or related field with at least 6 months experience in the field.
- At least 6 months experience with lesson plan development.
- A creative mind and assertive personality to plan, lead and implement recreational activities.
- CPR and first aid certification.
- Outdoor recreation experience.
- Experience pulling a trailer (i.e. may use a city vehicle to transport program supplies/small trailer to different locations.)
- Gain leadership skills and supervisory experience
- Lesson planning experience
- Primarily outdoors and get to enjoy the sunshine and great weather that summer brings
- Variety of job duties
- Get to visit both Hopkins and Minnetonka parks
