Under general supervision, leads and conducts indoor and outdoor activities to encourage learning and develop social interaction skills for children in a day care program. Provides safe, stimulating environment for young children. Performs classroom-teaching duties, follows pre-approved lesson plan. Responsible for the health, safety and personal welfare of assigned children. Supervises assigned childcare service areas; insures that safety precautions are observed; oversees the use of equipment and materials. Cares for and maintains assigned equipment, teaching aids and materials. Performs related work as required.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assists in organizing, promoting and leading diversified community activities; cooperates and assists in community wide events;
Supervises assigned community service areas; insures that safety precautions are observed; oversees the use of equipment and materials and cares for and maintains assigned equipment.
Assists in the preparation and promotion of educational programs and events;
Prepares necessary routine reports, to include, but not limited to, pre and post test evaluations on all participants and daily progress reports.
Prepares supplies and material needed for program and lessons.
Provides a supportive environment for program participants.• A four-year degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child growth and development, child psychology, elementary education or sociology.
• Valid teacher certification
Must possess good moral character as determined by CFS screening process. May require valid Florida state driver's license. First Aid and CPR certification is required within 60 days of hire. Knowledge of the principles, rules and equipment requirements of common child care activities; knowledge of safety precautions and basic emergency first aid procedures; speak and write effectively; ability to instruct individuals and groups in a variety of child care activities; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, parents and the general public; ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions; ability to maintain routine records and prepare reports. Bi-lingual is a plus.
