City Planner
The City of Mission is seeking creative, qualified and engaged candidates for the position of City Planner. The person in this role will provide technical and administrative support for the land use and development functions of the City. The ideal candidate will have experience in zoning and site planning, the ability to review and analyze multiple types of land use applications, and the ability to provide general guidance in long range planning as it pertains to land use, transportation, and capital improvements in support of the future development of the City.
Key Responsibilities
The person in this role will be responsible for professional work in current and long-range planning to include; review and analysis of various land use applications including rezoning, plats and subdivisions, special use permits, and preliminary and final site development plans; prepare reports for various review bodies; respond to zoning and development inquiries and participate in the Development of Review Committee . The City Planner will also be responsible for special planning projects assigned including assisting with the update of the City’s zoning code and the Rock Creek Trail Corridor (West) Improvement Study.
Qualifications
· Must have valid driver's license
· Must have bachelor’s degree in planning, landscape architecture, arch, urban design or related field. Master’s degree preferred
· AICP certification is preferred or the ability to obtain the same within two (2) years from hire date.
· Training in the use of geographical information systems
Experience/Compensation
· At least one (1) year of experience working in municipal planning and zoning
· Salary range $59,617 - $86,428 DOQ
