What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Maintenance Technician position at City of Missouri City?
This is a full-time position with the City’s Facilities division in the Internal Services Department. The position is responsible for performing comprehensive and preventative maintenance along with routine repairs on City buildings and assets. Reporting relationship: Facilities Supervisor.• Monitors and checks work in-progress of subordinates and contracted vendors;
• Provide routine repairs such as plumbing leaks at faucets, unclogging toilets, replacing broken fixtures, and ceiling tiles;
• Provide routine maintenance such as: replacing air filters, belts, and light bulbs;
• Painting and texturing of walls;
• Installs new equipment, hardware, and office furniture;
• Performs preventative maintenance on HVAC units, exhaust fans, boilers, and other similar assets;
• Minor renovations, including laying flooring tiles, cutting new doorways, installing doors and window hardware;
• Assist in major renovation projects;
• Support departments with special events;
• All other duties as assigned;
• Subject to 24-hour recallHigh School Diploma or General Education Development Certificate and two (2) years relevant professional experience. Possess basic knowledge in general maintenance and plumbing.
Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited college or vocational/technical school degree/certification preferred. Applicants for the position muse pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements, the following will result in disqualification for the position: felony convictions, felony deferred adjudication, Class A & B misdemeanor deferred adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor convictions, an open arrest for any criminal offense, and family violence related convictions.
