What are the responsibilities and job description for the Detention Officer position at City of Missouri City?
- Monitor conduct of prisoners, according to established policies, regulations and directed procedures, to maintain order and safety; inspect conditions of locks, window bars, grills, doors, and gates;
- Search prisoners, cells for weapons or other prohibited items; Maintain surveillance of individuals or establishments.
- Record information, such as prisoner identification, charges, and incidences of inmates disturbance;
- Conduct fire, safety, and sanitation inspections;
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Subject to 24-hour call.
High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) Certificate and a minimum of two (2) years professional experience or closely related field preferred.
Must hold or be eligible to hold a Texas Basic Jailer Proficiency Certificate as defined by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) within one (1) year of employment.
The Department of Human Resources & Organizational Development may consider an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
