What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Day Camp Counselor position at City of Missouri City?
This is a seasonal position in the Parks and Recreation Department. An individual in this position is responsible for ensuring Missouri City’s Summer Day Camp runs efficiently by initiating, developing and maintaining a positive camp atmosphere. Reports to Recreation Specialist.
- Ensures the safety, well-being, and personal growth of campers.
- Assists enforcement of rules and regulations and eliminates safety hazards.
- Explains and enforces Summer Day Camp and departmental policies and procedures.
- Leads activities and gives instructions to large groups of children.
- Coordinates and facilitates a wide variety of activities for campers.
- Serves as a positive leader and upholds the Code of Conduct
- Influences others to help maintain discipline and order within the program.
- Maintains and reports attendance levels.
- Opens, closes, and secures the facility.
- Performs light custodial duties as assigned.
- Must be 16 years of age or older at the start of employment.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One year experience in childcare required.
- Current certification in First Aid and CPR or the ability to obtain one during onboarding required.
The Department of Human Resources & Organizational Development may consider an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
