What are the responsibilities and job description for the Traffic Signal Specialist position at City of Missouri City?
This is a full-time position in the City’s Public Works Department. This person is responsible for installing, repairing, monitoring, maintaining, operating and reporting on the City’s Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). Reporting relationship: Traffic Operations Manager.
Associate’s degree in traffic management, engineering, logistics or physical distribution from an accredited college or university and six (6) years of related traffic operations experience preferred. The Department of Human Resources & Organizational Development may consider an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
- Responsible for assisting in the overall operation and maintenance of the City’s Traffic Management Center;
- Review and makes recommendations on technical improvement, procedures or protocol to continuously improve traffic signal timing, phasing, construction, and communications;
- Performs repair and maintenance tasks for traffic signals and traffic control; follows all safety rules and regulations on the job site;
- Provide assistance for various operational and capital improvement programs that include: Traffic Signal Upgrades and Repairs, Traffic Studies, Mobility Coordination, Traffic Calming, Traffic Impact Analysis, Intelligent Transportation System, and Plan Review;
- Gives recommendations for traffic related budget and contract;
- Supervise contractors by processing work requests and job orders; assigning work duties; monitoring work duties and purchases; and implementing policies and procedures;
- Perform the duties of the Traffic Operations Manager in their absence.
- Perform other related duties as assigned;
- Subject to 24 hour recall.
