What are the responsibilities and job description for the CENTER THEATRE OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR position at City of Monroe (NC)?
The Center Theatre Operations Supervisor performs intermediate work in conducting a variety of specialized programs and activities; does related work as required. Supervisions is exercised over subordinate personnel including technical specialist, theatre patron services assistant, and part time customer service staff. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Director of Tourism and Parks and Recreation.

Essential Functions
- Supervising and coordinating the day to day scheduling, communications, and operations of the Monroe Center Theatre; establishing good rapport and communications with stakeholders; building partnerships; coordinating and training volunteers and programs.
- Carries out the purpose of the theatre/organization as created by the City.
- Serves as chief public spokesperson for the theatre and primary facilitator and impetus behind the advisory boards fund raising efforts.
- Serves as an unbiased arbitrator for the theatre.
- Develops and implements long-range planning for the theatre with the City and advisory board.
- Maintains financial controls and reporting systems within the City system and fund management.
- Sets operational policies and fees within the guidelines set by the City/advisory board.
- Schedules the theatre with the Technical Theatre Specialist.
- Negotiates and books traveling shows, film presentations, etc.
- Responsible for contract management, document maintenance, and productions.
- Establishes office procedures; sets up and maintains filing systems.
- Answers questions and responds to inquiries or complaints on department and/or City operations, policies, and procedures.
- Attends meetings of commissions, boards, and committees; compiles and types agendas.
- Prepares minutes of meetings; prepares files and forwards action needs to proper department.
- Develops and produces marketing brochures, fliers, advertisements, and billboards; maintains website; updates all web pages, social media (Facebook, Twitter, media) as it pertains to public information and promotes the Center Theatre.
- Prepares and distributes news releases and promotional material on theatre in conjunction with Director of Tourism and Parks and Recreation.
- Serves as innovator of programs that will create a vibrant, progressive, and vital community and City.
- Develops marketing program, discount packages, retail promotions to promote shopping and dining in partnership with downtown.
- Receives, processes, and enters a variety of information into computer system; submits data to outside agencies as required.
- Reviews a variety of data for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to established standards and procedures.
- Creates statistical reports and maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Orders and stocks office supplies and department forms; maintains office equipment supplies and requests repairs as required.
- Oversees the promotion and execution of theatre promotional events.
- Develops and supports adult volunteer programs to acquire docents for performances.
- Performs related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment and secretarial techniques.
- Thorough knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic.
- Thorough knowledge of the organization and functions of the department and of general administrative policies and practices.
- Experience working with volunteers.
- Ability to record and maintain accurate office records and to prepare accurate reports from file sources.
- Ability to perform and organize work independently; ability to meet deadlines; ability to prepare effective correspondence on routine matters and to perform routine office management details without referral to supervisor.
- Ability to work under stress and handle stressful situations.

Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree with major course work in theatre administration, programming, theatre marketing and public relations, fundraising, volunteer coordination, community organizing, nonprofit administration and small business development or a related field is preferred, and considerable experience in theatre management.
Special Requirements
- Valid driver's license in the State of North Carolina.
- May require specific certifications and/or licenses depending on departmental assignment.
Physical Requirements
- Work requires the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects, and some light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
