What are the responsibilities and job description for the CHILDCARE/NURSERY ATTENDANT position at City of Monroe (NC)?
Performs human support work providing childcare and developmental activities for children; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Program Supervisor.
This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word, and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, peripheral vision, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions
Provides for the supervision of infants and children ages 3-months to 12 years; assisting and encouraging children to achieve maximum potential in a kind and caring manner; preparing records, files and reports as needed. Assists in executing arts and craft programs, sports, activities and story time for children. Checks and assists with personal hygiene requirements for children. Administers snacks. Inspects toys and equipment daily; reports broken or unsafe items to supervisor. Performs related tasks as required.
General knowledge of child care practices and techniques; general knowledge of health, safety and first aid practices, methods and techniques; skill in working with children; ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with parents, staff, associates and program participants.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, attending high school, or work permit. Some experience in babysitting and working with children is preferred.
Possession of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Basic First Aid certifications, and Automated External Defibrillation (AED) training or preferred within 3 months of employment. Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina, state identification card or work permit. Visiting students can provide out of state driver license
