The Business and Industry Manager plans, develops, and implements strategies to enhance the City of Monroe's overall economic growth and sustainability. This position is responsible for responding to and collaborating with various stakeholders, including businesses, industry, education partners, community organizations, and government agencies, to promote investment and job creation within Greater Monroe. This position reports to the Economic Development Director.

Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Public Administration, Business Administration, Urban Planning, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in economic development, business development, government program compliance, or a related field.Special Requirements

- Strategic Planning: This position assists in developing and executing comprehensive economic development plans that align with the city's goals. The position analyzes economic trends and data to identify opportunities for growth and development.
- Business Development: Builds relationships with local businesses and potential investors to promote the retention of existing businesses and industries. Serves as a liaison between companies, industries, and governmental agencies to support recruitment and project management. Additionally, it supports initiatives to expand employment opportunities within existing businesses and industries in the city.
- Project Management: Oversees and coordinates economic development projects from inception to completion, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time within scope and budget.
- Community Engagement: Collaborates with community organizations to promote economic initiatives. Organizes and participates in public meetings, workshops, and forums to gather community input.
- Policy and Advocacy: Assists in developing policies that support economic growth and address community needs—advocates for local, State, and federal resources to support economic development projects.
- Reporting and Analysis: Prepares reports and presentations for city officials, stakeholders, and the public. Manages grant agreements, ensuring the proper drawdown of incentive grants and programmatic compliance. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of economic development programs and initiatives.
- Strong understanding of economic principles, market analysis, and business client management.
- Ability to apply economic analysis techniques relevant to market studies, feasibility assessments, and impact evaluations.
- Knowledge of methods and procedures of effective technical report preparation and presentation.
- A comprehensive understanding of research methods and information sources related to economic development.
- Ability to address and respond to issues, concerns, and needs within the community and City Council.
- Ability to interpret and apply pertinent laws, rules and regulations.
- Work effectively with others to achieve personal, team, department and citywide goals.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Skilled in overseeing diverse projects and collaborating with various businesses and industries.

Salary : $84,781 - $131,414
