What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Works Maintenance Worker II position at City of Monroe (WA)?
Install and maintain the city's water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage and street systems. Maintain right-of-ways, city property, facilities, pavement markings, and traffic control devices. Perform meter related activities, field assessments of utility installations and traffic control activities. Will perform work on various construction projects as needed.

- Install, assess and maintain water services, sanitary sewers, catch basins, water mains, and sewer mains and related appurtenances.
- Place sheeting to shore trenches, cut pipe and perform other tasks related to utility maintenance, repair and replacement and extension.
- Repair and inspect manholes, catch basins, water valves, streets, and all areas of utility systems.
- Operate power driven machinery, such as jack-hammers, tampers and other similar equipment.
- Move debris, dirt or other material from one place to another.
- Maintain grounds and facilities on right-of-ways, and city property.
- Repair asphalt and concrete surfaces.
- Operate Vactor truck for the cleaning of sewer/storm lines.
- Perform routine maintenance and servicing of equipment.
- Set up and pick up barricades, lane cones and warning signs to channel traffic around work crews, emergencies and accidents.
- Maintain traffic control devices and pavement markings.
- Operate video inspection equipment for the purpose of inspecting underground utility pipelines.
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
- Be available for on-call standby duty as scheduled on weekends or evenings as requested.
- Report to work ready to perform your job effectively and efficiently.
- Maintain regular, reliable and punctual attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Three years’ experience in utilities system maintenance operations or a related field that provides the required skill and knowledge required.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Positions require the use of City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid Washington State driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. In addition, individuals may be required to pass a Washington Department of Transportation physical exam and possess the appropriate commercial driver's license ("CDL"). Employees in CDL positions will be subject to unannounced alcohol and drug testing as a condition of continued employment.
- Familiarity with working around and operating equipment used in the maintenance or construction of utility systems.
- Ability to successfully complete various required training classes and obtain certificates necessary for functional skills performance, maintenance, and improvement within one year of date of hire (e.g., CDL etc.).
- 18 years of age.
