What are the responsibilities and job description for the Baseball and Softball Umpire position at City of Monroe?
The umpire is responsible to umpire the game of softball or baseball. The umpire is required to provide fairness and firmness necessary to control the many elements that comprise the competitive environment of a sports contest for Monroe Park and Recreation Departments.
Umpires starting pay is $11/hour
Umpires starting pay is $14/hour if WIAA Certified
Field Supervisor/Umpire = $2.00 more per hour

- Participate in pre-season staff orientation/training program.
- Know, understand and enforce the Department's league rules and ASA rules.
- Review ground rules with managers prior to each game.
- In charge of calling the game due to weather conditions.
- Ability to call the game from home plate or the bases.
- Communicate with the Recreation Supervisor any problems that occurred that night.
- Follow all department policies and procedures.
- Minimum age of 14.
- Thorough knowledge of softball or baseball rules, umpiring techniques and responsibilities.
- Previous umpiring experience preferred, but not necessary.
- Ability to communicate, be courteous and cooperate with other staff members and the public.
- Ability to control players and coaches in times of disagreement.
Salary : $11 - $21
