Summary of Position
The Field Supervisor/Head Umpire is responsible for providing leadership and supervising the umpires and keeping control of the game. They will umpire baseball and softball games also and still be the Field Supervisor. They will work with the Recreation Supervisor to set up training and clinics and communicate any problems that may occur.

The Field Supervisor/Head Umpire is responsible for providing leadership and supervising the umpires and keeping control of the game. They will umpire baseball and softball games also and still be the Field Supervisor. They will work with the Recreation Supervisor to set up training and clinics and communicate any problems that may occur.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in pre-season staff orientation/training program
- Supervise all Baseball & Softball staff that you umpire with
- Umpire Baseball & Softball games for the Department
- Work with the Recreation Supervisor to hold training and clinics for the umpires
- Review ground rules with Coaches & Umpires prior to each game
- Deal with problems that come up with the Coaches and or Parents
- Keep the ball boxes clean and organized and report any equipment needs necessary.
- Report scores to the Recreation Supervisor and communicate any problems that come up. Communicate any suggestions to make the league better.
- Know, understand and enforce the Department's baseball & softball league rules
- Follow all department policies and procedures.
- Minimum age of 16
- Thorough knowledge of softball and baseball rules, umpiring techniques and responsibilities.
- Previous softball & baseball umpiring experience required
- Ability to supervise others
- Ability to communicate, be courteous and cooperate with other staff members, parents and coaches.
