The current vacancies are in the Maintenance Services Division.
The Crew Leader supervises and inspects the work of public works maintenance services crews; sets-up and operates a variety of light, medium, and heavy equipment and related equipment used in public works maintenance and construction work; and performs related duties as required. Assists in training, and evaluating of employees in job-related duties and safety practices; as directed, may substitute temporarily for supervisor following specific or general work assignments received from superior. Evaluates the performance of subordinate personnel.

QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School graduation or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Streets : Three (3) years' experience in construction maintenance work, related labor or skilled work.
- Parks : 2 years experience in landscaping or irrigation and tree maintenance. Horticulture, irrigation and supervisory / management classes highly desirable.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of grounds keeping and gardening duties and routines; general maintenance work; use of common grounds keeping tools; supervisory methods and proper safety practices.
Ability to use hand tools, effectively communicate orally and in writing; train, supervise and evaluate staff in the proper use of tools and equipment; read and interpret plans and specifications; keep accurate records; prepare reports; establish and maintain effective working relationships.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Possession of valid California Class "C" Motor Vehicle Operator's License is required at time of appointment. Possession of State of California Qualified Applicator's License (QAL) and / or Qualified Applicator Certificate is desirable.
