Salary Information
Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

Nature of Work
This position is an entry-level position thatemphasizes learning federal compliance standards and supporting procurementactivities. It differs from upper-level buyer positions as it assists inprocuring goods and services for the City of Montgomery, ensuring adherence toprocurement policies and relations. Work responsibilities include, but arenot limited to, reviewing and processing requisitions, assisting in preparingprocurement documentation, providing fundamental support to the procurement team,and maintaining accurate procurement records. The work in this position isroutine and straightforward but must adhere to detailed compliancerequirements. Incumbents in this position works under the general supervisionof senior procurement staff, with guidance and oversight provided for allassignments.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED and one (1) year ofexperience in procurement or related administrative roles, includingfamiliarity with federal procurement guidelines.
NOTE : Qualifying education,training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilitiesto perform the job will be considered.
Special Requirements
WORKING CONDITIONS : Work is typically performed in an officesetting with occasional site visits to vendor locations or other city offices. Minimumphysical effort is required, but the role may involve extended periods of sittingand computer use.
Kind of Examination
Applications are being accepted to fill two (2) vacancies and any vacancies that may occur during the life of the register. The current vacancies are with the City of Montgomery Finance Department. Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application and supplemental questionnaire. For this reason, applicants are urged to fill in the application form and supplemental questionnaire completely providing detailed information concerning the kinds of jobs they have held, the dates they held them, where and exactly what their duties were. If more than six (6) qualified applications are received, a selection test will be used to rank applicants on the register. Tied scores will not be broken. If there are six (6) or less qualified applicants, they will be considered equally qualified and placed on the register in alphabetical order.
