Nature of Work
The Buyer II classification is responsible formanaging federally funded procurements and maintaining vendor relationships. Itdiffers from the lower-level buyer position as it independently managesprocurement processes for the City of Montgomery, ensuring compliance withprocurement regulations and best practices. Work responsibilitiesinclude, but are not limited to, preparing and issuing solicitations,evaluating bids, recommending contract awards, negotiating contracts,maintaining procurement documentation, and aiding in developing policies andprocedures. Incumbents in this position provide guidance to Buyer Is and otherentry-level staff. Work is performed under limited supervision, with significantindependence in managing assigned tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor'sdegree in business, public administration, or a closely related field and three(3) years of procurement experience, particularly with federally fundedprojects. NOTE : Qualifying education, training and experiencethat provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the jobwill be considered.
Kind of Examination
