Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

Nature of Work

Thefundamental reason this classification exists is planning, coordinating, andoverseeing the development, renovation, and maintenance of parks, recreationalfacilities, and public spaces. This role involves managing projects from conceptionthrough completion, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and inaccordance with safety standards and community needs. The Parks and Recreations Project Coordinator's workresponsibilities include : managing and overseeing all aspects of parks projectsfor the Department of Parks and Recreations, ensuring successful planning,design, construction, and modification of facilities and amenities througheffective project management, contract coordination, budget oversight, qualitycontrol, compliance with regulations, and interdepartmental collaboration whilemaintaining accurate records and fostering stakeholder engagement to align withorganizational goals. This classification reports to andreceives general directions from the Parks and Recreations Director.

Minimum Qualifications

Must havea Bachelor'sDegree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Sports Management, ora related field and four (4) years of experience in project management,preferably in parks and recreation, project coordination / management, orurban / environment / resource planning activities; Proven experience inplanning, organizing, and implementing recreational programs and activities anda Project Management Certification is a plus. NOTE : Qualifying education, training, andexperience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities toperform the job will be considered.

Kind of Examination

Applications are being accepted to fill one (1) vacancy and any vacancies that may occur during the life of the register. The current vacancy is with the City of Montgomery Parks and Recreations Department. Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application and supplemental questionnaire. For this reason, applicants are urged to fill in the application form and supplemental questionnaire completely providing detailed information concerning the kinds of jobs they have held, the dates they held them, where and exactly what their duties were. If more than five qualified applications are received, a selection procedure will be used to rank applicants on the register. Tied scores will not be broken. If there are five or less qualified applicants, they will be considered equally qualified and placed on the register in alphabetical order.
