The City of Monticello is seeking a skilled Building Inspector/Fire Inspector to enforce building, fire, zoning codes, and public nuisance regulations in accordance with applicable laws and ordinances.
Responsibilities
As a Building Inspector/Fire Inspector, you will:
- Inspect buildings and properties to ensure compliance with local building, fire, plumbing, mechanical, energy, and zoning codes.
- Enforce code requirements through issuance of orders, notices, and citations when necessary.
- Review residential and commercial plans to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and ordinances.
- Provide education and training to builders, contractors, and property owners on code requirements and compliance.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must possess:
- High school diploma or equivalent with additional post-secondary coursework in a related field.
- 1 year of building inspector experience including inspection and plan review of residential, commercial, and industrial properties.
- Certification by the State of Minnesota as a Limited Building Official.
- Valid Minnesota Class D driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
