Basic Purpose of the Job:
Under general direction, performs complex payroll computations, accounting and clerical duties related to the issuance of regular and supplemental payrolls, reporting and management of retirement processes.Essential Functions:

Must possess ability to work in a standard office setting; attend meetings at various sites within and away from the City with some evening and/or weekend hours required; strength to lift and carry materials up to 20 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate with employees and the public. Works primarily in clean, comfortable office environment; subject to many interruptions and pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries.

- Prepare bi-weekly payroll for City of Montrose and WestCO using Caselle software.
- Process time records, compile payroll statistics, maintain payroll records and calculate payroll. Implement software changes in the payroll system.
- Manage the preparation, distribution and reporting process for internal payroll reports.
- Prepare and balance state unemployment, federal 941, and W-2 forms to the payroll system on a quarterly basis by the 15th of the following month.
- Enroll employees through ICMA-RC EZ link and address questions that arise regarding ICMA-RC accounts.
- Prepare ICMA, Mutual of Omaha, and VSP reports and coordinate reporting with proper payment.
- Assist others in the department with telephone coverage as needed.
- Verify payroll updates to the general ledger on a biweekly basis.

- High school diploma or general education degree required.
- Associates degree from an accredited two year college or university in Accounting preferred.
- Two years related experience and/or training in payroll.
- Extensive computer skills required, with a detailed operation of Microsoft Office products.
- Working knowledge of FLSA, Equal Pay Act, IRS and state wage and hour regulations.
- Knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of payroll and accounting.
- Current Colorado drivers license with acceptable record.
