Under direction of the Golf Course Superintendent the Golf Course Grounds Maintenance Seasonal Worker has the responsibility of aiding the golf course maintenance staff in tasks related to mowing and course conditioning. The worker performs a variety of assigned duties and responsibilities involved in maintaining the golf course. Employee will be assigned special projects to assist the golf course superintendent as needed.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Work under the general direction and guidance of the Golf Course Grounds Superintendent. Must be able to work under minimal supervision and exercise sound independent judgment.

- Perform assigned duties related to the general maintenance and upkeep of the Black Canyon Golf Course to maintain a high quality of playability throughout the golf season.
- May assist in the application of herbicides, fungicides and pesticides safely and maintain precise records of chemicals used including types and quantities.
- Operate maintenance equipment in a safe and appropriate manner as necessary to perform all grounds maintenance activities, including, but not limited to, sprayers, mowers, tractors, string trimmers, fly mowers, walking greens mowers, out front rotary mowers, trap rakes and utility vehicles.
- Hand rake and power rake bunkers, string trim creeks/ponds, edge curbs, manicure greens, aprons, tees, fairways and rough areas around trees, fence lines, banks and hillsides, and all other grounds visible to players and visitors to the course.
- Assist in the irrigation of the golf course as needed, including the operation of pumps, valves, controls, etc.
- Set tee markers, pins and cups on greens daily; maintain ball washers, sand traps, and water hazards; replace tee towels and flags when needed; and sand and seed tee and drop area divots.
- Collect and empty litter, pick-up debris and help to complete various small projects such as sodding, tree, removal, bunker renovation, topdressing, etc.
- Maintains fuel, fluid levels and proper tire pressure for all types of equipment on a daily basis; reports equipment problems or failure to the Superintendent immediately.
- Returns all equipment (washed and cleaned) to the designated storage location at the end of each shift.
- Follow safety regulations in accordance with City of Montrose Safety Rules & Policies.
- Always give the right of way to golfers whenever meeting up with carts on the path and consistently keeps noise levels down to a minimum so as not to upset/distract golfers.
- Review schedules for changes, calendar of events and club activities on a daily basis, in order to have the ability to answer general questions from golfers while out on the course.
- Attend all staff meetings as required.

Job Requirements:
- Methods and materials used in building and grounds maintenance and landscape area construction/maintenance work.
- Use of hand and power tools and equipment.
- Quality standards of safety and ability to comply with standards.
- Interpersonal skills and a ?customer first? mentality.
- Basic math and reading.
- Safely operate tractors, power equipment, light motorized equipment, and a variety of hand tools.
- Interpret and follow detailed instructions.
- Listen and communicate with guests and staff in a positive and friendly manner.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff and the public.
- Work independently in the absence of direct supervision.
- Work weekend, holiday and evening shifts as necessary.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Previous experience in similar position preferred.
- Knowledge of plant and insect identification is desirable. First Aid, CPR and AED certification preferred.
- Valid CO Drivers License with acceptable driving record.
